Summer is a time for fun in the sun, but it doesn't have to be expensive. There are many ways to enjoy yourself without spending lots of money. 1. Domestic tourism

Do you know Puerto Rico well? This small island is full of beautiful destinations that some are free or low cost, like El Yunque and Old San Juan. It only costs you gas and maybe some small entry costs, you can pack food from home to save even more.

The best restaurant is the one you prepare outdoors. Choose a romantic or fun menu. You do it all at home without spending more and you enjoy it under the stars, on the beach, in El Morro, or even in the patio of your house.

3. To the beach!

We have about 300 beaches in Puerto Rico. Do you already know them all? Plan a tour. One beach per day or per week. The vast majority are free or have some minimal parking cost.

You are free. Go out and have an adventure. You can camp on beaches, in the countryside, in mountainous places with views, in Culebra or in Vieques. The options are many and none are expensive.

Did you know that the word barbacoa was invented by the Taínos? It is a Puerto Rican tradition that has transcended the entire world. Take out the BBQ, make a purchase, invite two or three special people and enjoy.

7. Lets play!

Summer is the ideal time to practice sports as a family. Don't limit yourself to traditional sports. Playing with water guns and inflatable pools is more than welcome and it won't cost you much.
